Five persons including students were hospitalized after a fire extinguisher exploded in a Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) bus this morning.
they were later released after been treated for chemical inhalation.
A report coming from the JUTC Communications Manager, Reginald Allen, told a popular News Centre that a route (31) bus was travelling along the Spanish Town Road approaching Weymouth Drive approximately 7:10 a.m. when the extinguisher exploded, releasing a chemical vapour.
Allen expressed that the bus driver and passengers suffered minor trauma.
The bus driver experienced the difficulty opening the doors causing scared passengers brake an emergency window to evacuate. The cause of the explosion is said to be under investigation.
